THIS MUSICAL VERSION:

It's A Wonderful Life - The Musical was written in 1998 to be performed for Christmas at the Majestic, First Baptist, Dallas' annual Christmas event in downtown Dallas. Minister of Music Keith Ferguson says, "Bruce Greer and I were always interested in writing a musical version of this story. I needed to find a project for Christmas 1998 and we decided to go for it. It was written in a whirlwind of about four months, and has been revised and improved constantly until it reached its current version in 2002. It's the perfect story for a musical. It has a winsome hero in George Bailey, colorful characters, dramatic tension, and positive values. At this time in our nation, its message of faith and hope in God and the value of each human life is timely."

The musical is written in a traditional "book musical" form (think Rodgers & Hammerstein) with character and story-driven songs with tuneful and memorable melodies. In 1999, D Magazine called it one of Dallas' "must see holiday events," and The Dallas Morning News praised it as a "lavish production with eye-popping scenery, lush orchestrations, and a slick, memorable score."
